Hi friends!

Welcome to my little corner of Al Gore’s Internet. I’m Jareesa - I’m a scientist, a freelance writer, a knitter, wife to LM, mom to #BabyPi, and more. I love Queen Bey, squishy yarn, watching GBBO, and attempting to bake. Sometimes I rant, sometimes I rave, but I always tell the truth.

My 3-day weekend...

I probably should have posted this before my critique of "Stomp the Yard", but that's ok. Friday I had off, and I was determined to find a dress for the Kappa Kasino Night. I had waited until almost the last minute, so I planned to devote my day to dress shopping. I thought about it, and decided to start at the outlet mall, since they have several places there. First I went into the BCBG outlet, and lucky me, they were having a big sale! An extra 50% off clearance dresses. I found several that looked beautiful on the hanger, including this blue empire-style dress that was all floaty and nymph-like...but when I got in the dressing room, nothing fit! And it wasn't even my hips, which I figured would be my problem area, it was my breasts...they are simply too huge to fit into those dresses. I made a sad face and put away all my beautiful finds. No other store had things I wanted to try on, but I did pick up a cute bubble skirt and top from the Ann Taylor outlet store.

Next stop was TJ Maxx, because I got a tip from someone that they found a dress there. Well, everything just felt cheap and not cool, so I quickly bounced. I was near the Mall of Millenia, so I decided to swing by there again. I took my time and really combed the Macy's, which was also having a dress sale, but once again, my breasts were just not cooperating in those dresses. Its official, if this weight loss thing doesn't make them smaller, I'm getting a reduction. And btw, so far I've lost 22 pounds and these suckers are still the same size! Anyway, I hopped back in the car (after stopping at Bath and Body Works for more stuff that I don't need) and headed to Florida Mall. They had a Nordstroms, and I just KNEW I would find my dress there....but I was sadly mistaken. They had like 8 dresses (ok, I'm exaggerating, but really, they had nothing). Macy's was the next closest dept store, and I went in, even though its a much smaller Macy's than the one at Millenia. They were also having a dress sale, so I scoured the sales racks and tried on a few things. I finally settled on a black dress, with a V-neck in the front and back, and the perfect amount of cleavage, and an A-line bottom...And its a size 12! I was planning to wear something colorful, but it was cute on me and only $35....Once the dress hunt was complete, I ran a few errands, and hit the video store (where I picked up "Stomp the Yard" among other things).

Saturday I got up and hit the gym (though I was super tired halfway through my workout and cut it short early) and then had a lunch meeting with some ladies at Cheesecake Factory. While there, I ran into some sorors, who once again promised to call me about meetings and whatnot...We'll see if it happens. Anyway, my lunch was great, I met some lovely ladies and had a great time. And I even left with a prize! After lunch I hopped in the car and drove up to Jacksonville...and yes, it was for a guy (hey, a girl gets lonely!). The drive wasn't bad at all, except for the state troopers being out and trying to pull a sista over...but they didn't catch me, praise baby Jesus! Anyway, I had never been to Jacksonville before, and the part that I saw was pretty cool. I did hit the movies and see Fantastic Four, which was just as bad as the first one, and I also had a meal cooked for me and some drinks.

Sunday morning I did lunch in Jacksonville and then headed back to Orlando, and spent the rest of the day chillin in bed and eating fruit. A busy weekend, indeed.

Some random thoughts....
