I sat down to write on Sunday & I couldn't get it together. Maybe I can write tonight. Twitter was more interesting than blogging.
It's amazing how I've been writing so much more. I used to write so infrequently, so I don't blame folks for not reading. Once I really started writing regularly, I found myself inspired a lot more often. So I write more often.
I feel like through this blogging process, I've found my voice. And I want to follow it. I think that's been one source of my frustrations lately - I don't have the freedom to simply follow my passions & use my creative voice as fully as I would like to. So that is my goal.
Went to the Kevin Hart show on Saturday night. Every Black person in Minnesota was there, LOL. Had a great time though, laughed the entire night. I wasn't a huge fan of his before the show, but I am now. I love that folks came out & supported, Minnesota needs more performers to come do shows.
Speaking of shows, I wanna go see Diddy Dirty Money, they kick off their Coming Home tour here in Minneapolis next month. #dontjudgeme for wanting to see Diddy Dirty Money, I dig them. And Lloyd is the opening act, so I think it will be a good show. It's a Wednesday night show tho, but I go home the next day so I'll be able to get some sleep on the plane.
Can't wait to go home in a month, I miss my family. And my nieces will be turning 2 next month, I can't believe it! They are getting so big!
Date-wise, I've been on the bench lately. Haven't even spoken to or been out with the attorney. I've been wanting to hang out with both the artist and the musician, but they've been busy, so I'm just chilling. Being on the bench is probably the best for me right now, I've had other things that have been occupying my attention lately.
I keep meaning to sign up for another knitting class & I've been dragging my feet. Maybe I'll wait until the fall. I still have this fabulous yarn that I bought with the intention of knitting a scarf for the Vegas guy...I'll probably use it & then decide who to give it to once it's done.
I wanted to review Condoleezza Rice's memoir, Extraordinary, Ordinary People, but I couldn't really figure out what I wanted to say. So I'll just say that I really enjoyed the book. She devoted a lot of the book to her childhood growing up in Birmingham during the Civil Rights Movement, and she talks about how she would hear bombs going off in her neighborhood. The first thought that came to my mind was "She grew up in a war zone". I know folks like to say that we haven't had a war on US soil since the Civil War, but how could you not categorize the events of the Civil Rights Movement as anything other than warfare? After reading her book, I have a new respect for Dr. Rice. I have a better understanding of her motivations and just why she was involved in the Bush administrations.
I watched The Proposal this weekend. Interesting movie. Too formulaic for me.
Somehow telling a man that you will never ever ever sleep with him is somehow taken as a challenge. I don't understand that. Maybe I'll blog about that later in the week.
Hung with my friend EP this weekend. He's fun. Funny how we weren't really good friends in college, but now we are.
I need winter to be over, I'm ready to be social.
Minneapolis is the type of city where you only want a boo when in the winter, cause its too cold to go out anyway. Once it gets nice, you wanna be out at the lake, on a rooftop or patio, being cute & not all boo'd up.
Been getting into a lot of different stuff musically. Maybe I'll do a post abt that too.
Still loving my Nookcolor. Finally was able to get some e-books from my library - apparently they only have a certain # of licenses for e-books. I also have several physical books - the new ones from Jen Lancaster & J. California Cooper, and Perfect Peace. So far I'm not loving the new Jen Lancaster, I think I'm over her schtick. It was funny in Bitter Is The New Black and Bright Lights, Big Ass...now its just overdone.
I'm done another 5 pounds lately #yay. I think I'm gonna post abt that too.
I took a look at the # of ppl who subscribe to my blog via Google Reader on Friday & I was like :-( I shouldn't have looked. Really it doesn't matter, I have to keep reminding myself of that.
Ever @ reply someone on Twitter & they kinda play you to the left? No? Oh me neither.
I learned some info last night & it made me :-)
I wanted to kick it with the musician yesterday & he didnt get back to me until 130AM...I guess he forgot that I have a real job.
What's up with yall? Share in my randomness...
